Reaction Steps
In like manner to the reduction of diethyl 2-methyl-2-(3-nitrophenoxy)malonate, 4-(4-nitrophenoxymethyl)-2-methoxycarbonyl-furan was reduced to provide 4-(4-aminophenoxymethyl)-2-methoxycarbonyl-furan. 1H NMR (CDCl3): δ 7.15 (d, 1H, J=3.5 Hz), 7.05 (t, 1H, J=8.2 Hz), 6.50 (d, 1H, J=3.5 Hz), 6.37-6.27 (m, 3H), 5.01 (s, 2H), 3.89 (s, 3H).
