Procedure
Following the procedure as describe in Example 6, making variations as required to replace 2-fluorobenzoyl chloride with 2-methoxybenzoyl chloride to react with 2-amino-N-benzylisonicotinamide, N-benzyl-2-(2-methoxybenzamido)isonicotinamide was obtained as a colorless solid in 76% yield: mp 205-207° C. (hexanes/ethyl acetate); 1H NMR (300 MHz, CDCl3) δ 10.56 (s, 1H), 8.70 (s, 1H), 8.42 (d, J=5.1 Hz, 1H), 8.20 (dd, J=7.8, 1.8 Hz, 1H), 7.58-7.49 (m, 2H), 7.37-7.25 (m, 5H), 7.14-7.02 (m, 2H), 6.81 (s, 1H), 4.64 (d, J=5.8 Hz, 2H), 4.08 (s, 3H); MS (ES+) m/z 362.5 (M+1).
