Following the procedure as describe in Example 6, making variations as required to replace 2-fluorobenzoyl chloride with 3-(methylsulfonyl)benzoyl chloride to react with 2-amino-N-benzylisonicotinamide, N-benzyl-2-(3-(methylsulfonyl)benzamido)-isonicotinamide was obtained as a colorless solid in 36% yield: mp 170-171° C. (hexanes/ethyl acetate); 1H NMR (300 MHz, DMSO-d6) δ 11.33 (s, 1H), 9.34 (t, J=5.9 Hz, 1H), 8.58 (s, 1H), 8.52-8.50 (m, 2H), 8.30-8.27 (m, 1H), 8.11-8.08 (m, 1H), 7.80-7.75 (m, 1H), 7.56 (dd, J=5.2, 1.5 Hz, 1H), 7.34-7.19 (m, 5H), 4.47 (d, J=5.9 Hz, 2H), 3.26 (s, 3H); MS (ES+) m/z 410.5 (M+1).
