Reaction Steps
Into a 100-mL round-bottom flask was placed methyl 3-(4-acetamidopiperidin-1-yl)-2-phenylquinoxaline-6-carboxylate (100 mg, 0.25 mmol, 1.00 equiv), methanol (15 mL), dichloromethane (7 mL). To this was added a solution of sodium hydroxide (1.5 g, 37.50 mmol, 151.50 equiv) in water (7 mL). The resulting solution was stirred for 3 h at room temperature. The resulting mixture was concentrated under vacuum and diluted with 10 ml of H2O. The pH of the aqueous solution was adjusted to 3 with hydrochloric acid. The resulting solids were collected by filtration. This resulted in 95 mg (94%) of 3-(4-acetamidopiperidin-1-yl)-2-phenylquinoxaline-6-carboxylic acid as a light yellow solid.
