Procedure
To a mixture of aminourea hydrochloride (2.8 g, 25 mmol) and NaOAc (4.1 g, 49 mmol) in water (50 mL) was added dropwise a solution of 4-bromo-2-fluorobenzaldehyde (5.0 g, 25 mmol) in methanol (50 mL). The resulting solution was stirred at rt for 3 h. The solids formed were collected by filtration to obtain compound 59a as a white solid. Mass Spectrum (LCMS, ESI pos.): Calcd. for C8H7BrFN3O: 260.0 (M+H). Found: 260.1.
