2-Allyl-4-benzyloxy-pyrrolidine-1-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester, 51, (0.76 g, 2.4 mmol) is dissolved in methylene chloride (33 mL), and trifluoroacetic acid (25 mL) is added. The reaction mixture is stirred for 1 hour and then concentrated in vacuo. MeOH (40 mL) is added and the solvent is removed in vacuo to afford the desired product in approximately quanitative yield as a viscous oil which is used without further purification.
