Procedure
To 1 ml of toluene were added 1 mmol of diphenylphosphine oxide, 1 mmol of 1-octyne and 3 molar % of RhCl(PPh3)3 as a catalyst followed by subjecting to a reaction in a nitrogen atmosphere at room temperature for 1 hour. The reaction solution is concentrated and then isolated and purified by means of liquid chromatography to give [(E)-1-octen-1-yl]diphenylphosphine oxide in a yield of 70%.
