Reaction Steps
Hydroxylamine hydrochloride (9.72 g) was added to a stirred solution of 5-nitro-tricyclo[8.2.1.03,8]trideca-3(8),4,6-trien-13-one* (10.82 g) and sodium acetate (19.08 g) in a mixture of absolute ethanol (50 rat) and water (50 mL). The reaction was warmed to reflux for 18 hours cooled to room temperature and diluted with water (200 mL). The product was filtered off, dried under high vacuum to afford the title compound as a white powder (10.73 g) m/z 247 (M+H+). *J. Org. Chem. 1982, 47, 4329–4334
