5-Chloro-N-{1-[(iodoacetyl)amino]-2,3-dihydro-1H-inden-2-yl}-1H-indole-2-carboxamide (Method 7a; 60 mg, 0.12 mmol) and sodium carbonate (100 mg) were dissolved in 1:1 dioxane:water (5 mL) and heated to reflux for 20 hours. The reaction was cooled, water (10 mL) added, filtered and the filter cake washed with water (3×1 mL) and dried to give the title compound (40 mg, 85%) as a white powder.
