To a solution of N,N-dibenzylamine 29 (182 mg, 0.44 mmol) in MeOH (4.5 mL) at room temperature, Pd(OH)2—C (20% wt, 24 mg, 0.04 mmol) was added. The mixture was purged with a stream of dry Ar, and then H2. The reaction was stirred overnight under a H2 atmosphere (1 atm). The catalyst was filtered off through a 0.45 μm teflon filter in polypropylene housing, washing the filter with MeOH (30 mL) and the solvent was evaporated in vacuo. The crude was purified by column chromatography on silica (90:10 CH2Cl2/MeOH to 100% MeOH) to obtain aminoalcohol 30 as a white solid (87 mg, 85% yield).
