Procedure
A solution of potassium hydroxide (0.22 g) in methanol (4 ml) was added at room temperature to tert-butyl 5-(1-acetyl-2,3-dihydro-1H-indol-5-yl)-5-oxopentyl[2-(2-methoxyphenyl)ethyl]carbamate (1.00 g) obtained in Reference Example 47, and heated at reflux for 2 hours with stirring. The solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure, water was added to the resulting residue, and extracted with ethyl acetate. The organic layer was washed with brine, dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate, and the solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure. The resulting residue was purified by silica gel chromatography (eluting solvent; hexane: ethyl acetate=1:1) to give the title compound as a pale yellow oil (700 mg).
