Procedure
To a solution of Compound 239G (2.0 g, 10.7 mmol) in 2-methoxyethanol (40 mL) was added NaN3 (3.5 g, 53.4 mmol) and NH4Cl (2.3 g, 42.72 mmol). The reaction mixture was heated at 125° C. overnight. After cooling to room temperature, the solvent was removed under reduced pressure and the residue was taken into EtOAc (50 mL), washed with water (10 mL×2) and dried over anhydrous Na2SO4. Concentration in vacuo followed by flash chromatography (hexane-EtOAc: 1:1 to 1:2) on silica gel afforded 0.64 g of 239I (higher Rf) as a crystalline material. The stereochemistry was confirmed by a single x-ray crystallographic determination.
