Procedure
(5R)-3-(4-(1,4-Dioxa-8-azaspiro[4,5]decan-8-yl)-3-fluorophenyl)-5-azidomethyloxazolidin-2-one (2.44 g, 6.5 mM) was dissolved in dioxane (50 ml), treated with norbornadiene (2.98 g, 32.3 mM) and heated under reflux for 20 hours. After removal of the solvent, the residue was dissolved in dichloromethane (350 ml) washed with water (3×200 ml), and dried over magnesium sulfate. After filtration and evaporation the residue was purified by chromatography on a 20 g silica Mega Bond Elut® column, eluting with a gradient increasing in polarity from 0 to 2.5% methanol in dichloromethane. Relevant fractions were combined and evaporated to give the desired product (1.5 g).
