(5R)-3-(4-(1,4-Dioxa-8-azaspiro[4,5]dec-8-yl)-3-fluorophenyl)-5-(1,2,3-triazol-1-ylmethyl)oxazolidin-2-one (1.47 g, 3.65 mM) was dissolved in a mixture of glacial acetic acid (30 ml) and water (30 ml), and heated at 50° for 18 hours. Solvent was evaporated, the residue azeotroped with toluene (50 ml), then partitioned between ethyl acetate (150 ml) and water (100 ml). The organic layer was washed with saturated aqueous sodium bicarbonate solution (2×100 ml), water (100 ml), dried (magnesium sulfate) and evaporated to give product (894 mg), of sufficient quality for use without purification.
