To a stirred suspension of the (5R)-3-(3,4-dihydro-4-methyl-3-oxo-2H-1,4-benzothiazin-7-yl)-2-oxo-5-oxazolidinecarboxylic acid methyl ester (Step 5, 200 mg, 0.6205 mmol) in MeOH (3 mL) is added a 2.0 M solution of ammonia in MeOH (2.0 mL). This mixture is stirred for 3 h at which time the reaction is concentrated under reduced pressure, washed with ethyl ether (6 mL) and filtered to give the title compound as a white solid (108 mg, 57%), 1H NMR (300 MHz, DMSO) δ 7.86 (s, 1H), 7.63 (d, 2H), 7.47 (dd, 1H), 7.27 (d, 1H), 5.01 (dd, 1H), 4.26 (t, 1H), 4.00 (dd, 1H), 3.52 (s, 2H), 3.32 (s, 3H); MS for C13H13N3O4SMS m/z 308.5 (M+H)+.
