Reaction Steps

The product of Example 71 (14 mg, 0.03 mmol) was dissolved in conc. sulfuric acid (0.06 mL) and water (0.5 mL), and the resultant solution was cooled to 0° C. Sodium nitrite (2.9 mg, 0.04 mmol) was added, and the reaction mixture was warmed to room temperature. After 40 min, the product was extracted with ethyl acetate and recrystallized (ethyl acetate-hexanes) afforded the title compound (4.5 mg, 32%) as beige crystals, m.p. 243°-244° C.
