Reaction Steps

To a solution of the product of step ii) (6.8 g) in DCM (300 ml) was added nm-chloroperbenzoic acid (8 g) at ambient temperature with stirring. After 6 h a concentrated solution of sodium thiosulphate (50 ml) was added and the organic phase collected. The organic phase was then washed with saturated sodium bicarbonate solution (×2) followed by brine. The organic phase was dried (MgSO4) and the solvent evaporated to leave the subtitle compound as a colourless foam. Yield: 7.0 g.
