5,6-Dichloro-N-methoxy-N-methyl-nicotinamide from step (a) above (3.2 g, 1.36 mmol) reacted with piperazine-1-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester (2.53.g, 1.36 mmol, Aldrich) under the conditions of Example 3a to give the title compound as a white solid. MS (ESI, pos. ion) m/z: 385 (M+1).
