Using a procedure analogous to that used to prepare 2A, 5-(4-bromophenyl)pentanoic acid (537 mg, 2.09 mmol) was reacted with 5,5,5′,5′-Tetramethyl-[2,2′]bi[[1,3,2]dioxaborinanyl] to afford 5A (429 mg, 71%) as a white solid. 1H NMR (400 MHz, tetrahydrofuran-d8) δ 0.99 (s, 6H), 1.55-1.70 (m, 4H), 2.24 (t, J=7.5 Hz, 2H), 2.61 (t, J=7.0 Hz, 2H), 3.73 (s, 4H), 7.12 (d, J=7.9 Hz, 2H), 7.65 (d, J=7.9 Hz, 2H).
