Phenyl chloroformate (0.204 mL, 1.62 mmol) was added dropwise to a solution of 16E (0.48 g, 1.55 mmol) in pyridine (0.193 mL, 2.38 mmol) and DCM (3.5 mL) at 0° C. The reaction mixture was stirred at rt for 1 h. The reaction mixture was diluted with water and extracted with DCM (2×). The combined organic layers were dried (MgSO4) and concentrated in vacuo. The residue was purified by silica gel chromatography (gradient from 0 to 50% ethyl acetate in hexanes) to give 16F (0.609 g, 91%) as a white foam.
