According to the procedure for the preparation of 73B, methyl 2-(4-bromophenyl)-2-methylpropanoate (2.15 g, 8.36 mmol) afforded 1.93 g of 74A as a colorless oil. MS (ESI) m/z 211.1 (M-OH)+.
