To a solution of 2-(4-Benzyl-piperazin-1-yl)-5-trifluoromethyl-pyrimidine (0.63 g) in methanol was added Palladium-C (Degussa EL101N; 5%) and the reaction mixture was heated at 60° C. under hydrogen atmosphere. The reaction mixture was then allowed to cool down to room temperature, the catalyst was filtered of and solvent was removed in vacuo to yield the title compound as a colorless solid (0.41 g). MS (m/e): 233.1 (M+H+).
