100 mg Raney nickel were added to a solution of 250 mg (0.30 mmol) benzyl 4-(1-{(S)-2-(4-amino-3-chloro-5-trifluoromethyl-benzyl)-4-oxo-4-[4-(2-oxo-1,2,4,5-tetrahydro-1,3-benzodiazepin-3-yl)-piperidin-1-yl]-butyryl}-piperidin-4-yl)-piperazin-1-carboxylate in 30 mL MeOH and the reaction mixture was stirred for 5 h at RT and 50 psi H2. To complete the reaction another 100 mg of Raney nickel were added and the mixture was stirred for a further 10 h at RT. The catalyst was suction filtered, the solvent eliminated i. vac. and the residue purified by HPLC.
