30 ml of 40% aqueous dimethylamine solution was added to 4.5 g (14.5 mmol) of 1-[[[4-(chloromethyl)phenyl]carbonyl]amino]cyclohexanecarboxylic acid methyl ester, and the mixture was heated under reflux for 3 hours. The reaction mixture was distilled off under reduced pressure, a saturated aqueous sodium bicarbonate solution was added thereto, and the mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate. The organic layer was washed with saturated brine and dried with anhydrous sodium sulfate. The solvent was distilled off under reduced pressure, diisopropyl ether was added to the residue, and the mixture was stirred overnight. The precipitated solid was collected by filtration to obtain 2.3 g (50%) of the title compound.
