0.2 ml of a 4N solution of hydrogen chloride in dioxane was added to a solution of 130 mg of 1-methyl-2-{2-[2-(4-phenylbutyl)phenoxy]ethyl}pyrrolidine [prepared as described in step (a) above] in 5 ml of ethyl acetate, and the resulting mixture was worked up in a similar manner to the procedure described in Example 1(c). The solvent was removed by distillation under reduced pressure, and the residue was dried in vacuo, to give 144 mg of the title compound as a colorless oil.
