Alkylation reaction of phenol 58 with pentyl bromide gave 2-(3-(3-(pentyloxy)phenyl)propyl)isoindoline-1,3-dione as yellow oil. Yield (0.549 g, 46%): 1H NMR (400 MHz, CDCl3) δ 7.81-7.84 (m, 2H), 7.69-7.72 (m, 2H), 7.11-7.16 (m, 1H), 6.76 (d, J=7.6 Hz, 1H), 6.73 (s, 1H), 6.66 (dd, J=7.8, 2.2 Hz, 1H), 3.91 (t, J=6.8 Hz, 2H), 3.74 (t, J=7.2 Hz, 2H), 2.65 (t, J=7.6 Hz, 2H), 2.01-2.07 (m, 2H), 1.73-1.78 (m, 2H), 1.34-1.48 (m, 4H), 0.92 (t, J=7.2 Hz, 3H).
