Mitsunobu reaction of phenol 24 with 2,6-dimethylbenzyl alcohol gave 2-(2-(3-(2,6-dimethylbenzyloxy)phenoxy)ethyl)isoindoline-1,3-dione as yellow oil. Yield (1.2 g, 85%): 1H NMR (400 MHz, CDCl3) δ 7.85-7.88 (m, 2H), 7.71-7.74 (m, 2H), 7.12-7.18 (m, 1H), 7.01-7.10 (m, 3H), 6.60 (dd, J=8.0, 1.8 Hz, 1H), 6.57 (s, 1H), 6.51 (dd, J=8.0, 1.8 Hz, 1H), 4.99 (s, 2H), 4.09-4.24 (m, 4H), 2.38 (s, 6H).
