Alkylation reaction of phenol 24 with 1,2-epoxypentane gave 2-(2-(3-(2-hydroxypentyloxy)phenoxy)ethyl)isoindoline-1,3-dione as yellow oil. Yield (1.1 g, 84%): 1H NMR (400 MHz, CDCl3) δ 7.98 (d, J=6.8 Hz, 1H), 7.44-7.56 (m, 2H), 7.12-7.16 (m, 1H), 6.68-6.73 (m, 1H), 6.46-6.52 (m, 3H), 4.10 (t, J=5.2 Hz, 2H), 3.90-4.0 (m, 2H), 3.77-3.82 (m, 3H), 1.32-1.56 (m, 4H), 0.94 (t, J=6.8 Hz, 3H).
