3.4 g of 2,8-bis-(trifluoromethyl)-4-bromo-quinoline, 1.5 g of freshly sublimated aluminum-chloride are allowed to stand in 30 ml of abs. carbon disulfide for a night at room temperature. The organic phase is washed with 50 ml of 10 percent icy hydrochloric acid, 2×50 ml of water, dried and evaporated. The residue is recrystallized from aqueous methanol.
