Reaction Steps

To a solution of (2-{3-[1-(3-fluoro-pyridin-2-yl)-vinyl]-benzo[b]thiophen-2-yl}-ethyl)-dimethyl-amine (Compound 18-2) (26 mg, 0.080 mmol) in ethanol (1 mL), platinum dioxide (9 mg, 0.04 mol) was added. The reaction was shaken at 30 psi for 4 hours under H2 atmosphere and monitored by LC/MS. The reaction was filtered and washed with EtOH and subsequently purified by mass triggered preparative HPLC to afford (2-{3-[1-(3-fluoro-pyridin-2-yl)-ethyl]-benzo[b]thiophen-2-yl}-ethyl)-dimethyl-amine (Compound 18-3). MH+=329. tR=4.7 min (Method 2).
