cis-4-t-Butyloxycarbonylamino-1-benzyl-3-methylpiperidine (13 g, 0.042 mol) was dissolved in 170 ml methanol and transferred to the Parr pressure reactor after addition of 1.3 g of Pd(OH)2 on carbon. The rqcytoion mixture stirred for 6 hrs at 400 psi pressure at 50° C. Catalyst was removed by filtration and eavaporation of the solvent afforded 8.7 g (95%) of titled compound.
