(S)-6-(5-Cyclopropyl-1H-pyrazol-3-ylamino)-5-fluoro-2-(1-(4-fluorophenyl)ethylamino)nicotinamide (Example 2; 1.0 g, 2.5 mmol) was dissolved in a 10% aqueous EtOH solution (10 ml) at 25° C., followed by addition of solid KOH (2.8 g, 50.0 mmol). The reaction solution was heated to 95° C. for 4 days, cooled to 25° C., and extracted with DCM (2×50 ml). The aqueous layer was then acidified to pH 3. The resulting solid (0.55 g), was collected by filtration and dried under vacuum to give the title compound. MS: Calcd.: 399. Found: [M+H]+400.
