The mixture of 1-(5-methylpyridin-2-yl)-5-nitro-1H-indazole and 2-(5-methylpyridin-2-yl)-5-nitro-2H-indazole was dissolved in EtOH (20 mL), and 10% Pd/C (250 mg) was added. Under H2 atmosphere, the mixture was stirred at room temperature for 12 h, filtered and concentrated in vacuo. The residue was chromatographed on silica gel eluting with AcOEt/Hexane to give the title compound as white crystals (76 mg).
