Procedure

30 parts by weight of moist silicic acid gel, 30 parts by weight 1,4-butanediol and 5 parts by weight of sodium carbonate are mixed then heated to just below the boiling point of 1,4-butanediol for 20 to 60 minutes, thereby producing a light tan powder, 1,4-butanediol silicate.
