To a solution of compound obtained from step b above (8.1 g) in a mixture of ethyl acetate/methanol/tetrahydrofuran (˜300 mL), 10% Palladium on charcoal (1.6 g) was added and stirred under hydrogen atmosphere at 30 psi in a Paar apparatus for 2.5 hours. The reaction mixture was filtered through a celite pad, washed with ethyl acetate, and the filtrate was concentrated under reduced pressure to obtain the title compound as a white solid which was used as such for the next step.
