Reaction Steps
A solution of 87 mg (0.169 mmol) of the acid (15) in 10 ml of CH2Cl2 was treated with 40 mg (0.348 mmol) of N-hydroxysuccinimide and 87 mg (0.454 mmol) of 1-ethyl-3-(3-dimethylaminopropyl)carbodiimide HCl and stirred at room temperature overnight. The reaction was washed with H2O, saturated NaHCO3 and brine, dried over Na2SO4 and concentrated in vacuo. The residue was chromatographed on silica gel using 10% ether in CH2Cl2 as eluent to give 34 mg (33%) of 16 as a white amorphous solid.
