Using General Procedure I; a solution of ethyl 4-[4-[1-(2,2-dimethylpropyloxy)-cyclopropyl]-3-methyl-phenylethynyl]-benzoate (Compound 87, 60.0 mg, 0.15 mmol) in ethanol (3 mL) and tetrahydrofuran (3 mL) was treated with NaOH (120.0 mg, 3.0 mmols, 3.0 mL of a 1N aqueous solution) and stirred overnight at room temperature. Work-up afforded 24.0 mg i(43%) of the title compound as a colorless solid.
