A process for the preparation of 4-(2,4-difluorophenyl)-phenyl 4-nitro-benzoate comprising the Friedel-Crafts acylation of 2,4-difluorobiphenyl with 4-nitro-benzoyl chloride in order to obtain 4-(2,4-difluorophenyl)-4'-nitro-benzophenone and the Baeyer-Villiger oxidation of this latter.
