Reaction Steps
Reaction of 2-amino-4-hydroxymethylimidazole hyrochloride (which is obtained by treating the picrate salt with hydrochloric acid) with cysteamine hydrochloride and reaction of the resulting 2-amino-4-[(2-aminoethyl)-thiomethyl]imidazole with methyl isothiocyanate by the methods of Example 1 gives N-methyl-N'-[2-((2-amino-4-imidazolyl)methylthio)ethyl]thiourea.
