Procedure
1-n-propylcyclohexanoyl chloride (bp. 118°-122°/16 mm) was prepared in the usual way from 1-n-propylcyclohexanoic acid and thionyl chloride. A solution of this acid chloride (2.0 g) in ether (20 ml) was added dropwise to a stirred solution of n-butylamine (3.0 g) in ether (100 ml). After 3 hours the ethereal solution was washed with dilute hydrochloric acid and water, dried (MgSO4), and concentrated to give a colourless syrup. Distillation gave N-n-butyl-1-n-propylcyclohexanamide, bp. 116°-8°/1 mm.
