Procedure
To a stirred solution of 3-chloro-1-(4-chlorophenyl)-1,2-dihydroquinoxalin-2-one (20.0 g) in glacial acetic acid (250 ml) was added zinc powder (20.0 g) in small portions during 30 minutes. After a further 15 minutes the mixture was filtered, water was added and the product was extracted into dichloromethane. Evaporation of the solvent and recrystallisation of the residue from ethanol gave the sub-title compound mp 196°-199° C.
