Reaction Steps
A solution of 7.6 g of the syn isomer of diethylamine 3-acetoxymethyl-7-[2-(2-tritylamino-4-thiazolyl)-2-(1-methyl-1-methoxy-ethoxyimino)-acetamido]-ceph-3-eme-4-carboxylate in 30 ml of acetone and 10 ml of 2 N hydrochloric acid was stirred for 40 minutes at room temperature and then 20 ml of water were added thereto. The acetone was evaporated at 30° C. under reduced pressure and 25 ml of ethyl acetate were added thereto. The mixture was decanted and re-extracted and the organic phase was washed with water, dried and vacuum filtered. 1 ml of diethylamine was added to the filtrate and the mixture was triturated and iced. The mixture was vacuum filtered and the recovered product was washed with ether to obtain 6 g of pure syn isomer of diethylamine 3-acetoxymethyl-7-[2-(2-tritylamino-4-thiazolyl)-2-hydroxyimino-acetamido]-ceph-3-eme-4-carboxylate.
