Reaction Steps
Butylithium (2.5M in hexane, 9.75 ml, 24.4 mmol) was added to a stirred solution of 1-methylpyrazole (2.0 g. 24.4 mmol) in THF (30 ml) at -78° C. After 0.15 hours, a solution of chlorotrimethylstannane (4.85 g, 24.4 mmol) was added dropwise and the mixture allowed to warm to room temperature. The mixture was evaporated under reduced pressure and the residue partitioned between ether (50 ml) and water (50 ml). The ether layer was dried (MgSO4) and evaporated to yield the title compound as colourless oil (6.0 g, quantitative), which was characterised by 1H-NMR spectroscopy.
