A mixture of 5-bromo-1,3-dihydro-pyrrolo[2,3-b]pyridin-2-one (200 mg, 0.939 mmol), 3,4,5-trimethoxyphenylboronic acid (239 mg, 1.127 mmol) and dichlorobis(triphenylphosphine)palladium (II) (33 mg, 0.047 mmol) in CH3CN (5 ml) and 1 M Na2CO3 (5 ml) was heated in a microwave reactor for 10 min at 150° C. The reaction mixture was filtered, evaporated, partitioned between water and DCM and purified by silica gel chromatography with 0-10% MeOH:DCM to obtain 85 mg (30%) of compound #. 1H NMR (CDCl3/DMSO-d6, 300 MHz): δ 10.19 (bs, 1H), 8.18 (d, J=1.1 Hz, 1H), 7.54 (s, 1H), 6.57 (s, 2H), 3.80 (s, 6H), 3.75 (s, 3H), 3.47 (s, 2H).
