Procedure
2-(5-acetoxymethyl-3-pyridylmethyloxy)-9-bromo-5-(3-pyridylmethyl)-4H-pyrido[3,2,1-jk]carbazole-4-one (200 mg) produced in Example 106 was suspended in methanol (10 ml), and to the suspension was added a solution of sodium hydroxide (85 mg) in water (0.8 ml). The mixture was stirred at room temperature for 10 minutes, and the crystals precipitated were recovered by filtration, and washed with methanol and ether in succession to obtain the title compound (170 mg, 92%).
