Procedure
Prepared by the method described for Example 59 from 3-[2-(ethylamino)propyl]-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-8-methoxy-5H-[1]benzopyrano[3,4-c]pyridin-5-one (3.0 g, 0.009 moles), glacial acetic acid (20 ml), and sodium borohydride (2.5 g, 0.066 moles). The free base is obtained crystalline. Recrystallization from isopropyl ether gave the product (1.9 g), mp 83°-85° C.
