A solution of methyl 3-amino-5-morpholino-2-nitrobenzoate (72; 2.1 g, 7.5 mmol) in EtOH (100 ml) was hydrogenated over 5% Pd/C (200 mg) at room temperature. After 3 h, the reaction mixture was filtered and concentrated under reduced pressure to afford 2,3-diamino-5-morpholin-4-yl-benzoic acid methyl ester 73 (1.3 g, 69.5%) as a brown yellow solid.
