The title compound was prepared as in Example 1b from 1-(2-chloro-4-carbomethoxyphenyl)propan-2-one (2.32 g) and 2-hydroxy-2-(3-trifluoromethylphenyl)ethanamine (2.1 g). The compound crystallised from hexane m.p. 82°-94° as a 40:60 mixture of diastereoisomers. τ(CDCl3) 8.85 (3H,d,J=6 Hz), 6.8-7.6 (5H,m+2H replaceable by D2O), 6.1 (3H,s), 5.3 (1H,m), 2.7 (1H,d,J=8 Hz), 2.3-2.6 (4H,m), 2.1 (2H,d,J=8 Hz), 1.95 (1H,s).
