A mixture of 2-[2-(3,5-difluoro-phenyl)-acetylamino]-pentanoic acid [5-(2-hydroxy-1,1-dimethyl-ethyl)-[1,3,4]thiadiazol-2-yl]-amide (40 mg, 0.93 mmol) and Dess-Martin periodinane (1,1,1-tris(acetyloxy)-1,1-dihydro-1,2-benziodoxol-3-(1H)-one) (90 mg) in methylene chloride (3 ml) was stirred at rt for 3 hr. The mixture was quenched with water, methylene chloride and filtered through celite. The filtrate was transferred to separatory funnel and the organic layer was separated, dried and concentrated to give 42 mg of crude material. The crude material was purified by silica gel column chromatography using methylene chloride to 1% methanol in methylene chloride as eluent to give 20 mg of the title compound as a tan glass solid. APCI M+1=425.2.
