Procedure

2,2-Dimethylspiro[5,5]undec-8-en-1-one was treated with methyllithium according to the general procedure (example 2, procedure 5) to give 1,2,2-trimethylspiro[5,5]undec-8-en-1-ol in 98% yield. The crude product was purified by bulb-to-bulb distillation (B.p.=140-150° C./0.032 mbar).
